It was a great honor when the Bukidnon local government got me to be the official documentor/photographer for this year’s KAAMULAN festival. It was one of the difficult assignments I had so far as I was to document the festival’s entire major events and was also doing part-time teaching in Xavier University. I had to go back and forth in each city, Cagayan de Oro City and Malaybalay City, travelling by motorcycle early in the morning. I had to bring with me my motorcycle because it was very efficient going to different events during the festival as there were really lots of people in Malaybalay that time from locals to international tourists. Malaybalay City is a 2-hour ride from Cagayan de Oro City, a place atop mountains and has this nice cold weather which the festival takes place every year. I would like to thank my sister; Irene Aserios for helping me cover some of the major events. I always need a back up photographer in case of emergency. Sometimes we just don’t know when our gadgets might die on us. And also my sister is the writer of the articles within the photobook. And to my brother Ben Aserios for the assistance who by the way also is a videographer under Atoy Martinez.

I have already been into many beauty pageants in different cities to be one of their official photographers and also a judge for the Photogenic awards. I have been invited from local pageants like Ms. Kagay-an 2008 and 2009, Ms. Camiguin,Ms.Laguindingan to the national level Ms. Teen Philippines. I was really awed with the production of Ms. Liceo Emerald. It was just a school based pageantry having candidates from each of the colleges and also their highschool department and yet it felt like it was one major national pageant boasting with great intermission numbers. It was a great event indeed and I was happy that I could be part of their momentous occasion. To all candidates, win or lose, congratulations! And by the way, I would also personally congratulate Ms. Joanna Dignos and Ms. Blande Agtang, our chosen Ms. Photogenic and Fashion Photographer’s Choice awardees. They’ll be having a free photoshoot from us which they could personally use for their own portfolio, which I will also post here. Once again, congratulations to all winners.

Liceo University Cagayan de Oro City holds a pageant every 5 years for its Ms. Liceo Emerald. So it was really an honor to be invited as a major sponsor to take portrait shots of the 12 lovely candidates. Only two photographers were invited and that was Me, and Jonathan Neri. Actually, we are having a hard time choosing who we will choose as Ms. Photogenic and Fashion photographer’s choice awardees.  Might as well give some good comments to help us out who will be the deserving ones. During the Kagay-an Festival 2009, Me and 3 other visual artists were commissioned to do a two-day doodle/drawing exhibition at SPRUCE Limketkai ( a popular store here in Cagayan de Oro which sells HAVAIANAS, HAPPY FEET, CHARCOAL to name a few to depict the festival into a large blank tarpaulin. This kind of art is already been popularized by a few artists in Manila, and we would also like to introduce this kind of art here in Mindanao. If you want to have your cafe, rooms, restaurant, any establishment/infrastracture that you want to have this kind of design, we are open for bookings. please feel free to contact me.

These photos were taken during the ROCK THE VOTE ( register and vote ) rock concert held last July 30, 2009 at the Xavier University Ateneo de Cagayan Gym. Sen. Kiko Pangilinan, Fr. Jet Villarin and some politicians where there to talk about the youth to register to exercise their right to vote. Bands who performed to rock the night were: UPSTART,TWIN CHICKEN, TABULARAZA, DAHONG PALAY, LUKE MEJARES, SPONGE COLA AND HALE.
