MARKY and BANGS engagement shoot Cagayan de Oro City

A cool rainy day engagement shoot. Marky and Bangs are both nurses and during the shoot, I pretty much learned so many things. I learned that we should drink multivitamins during the evenings so that our body will digest the tablet through the night and we will be up and running through the next day. Learned how dengue works. And we should already be asleep from 10pm to 2am as these are the peak hours our body will secrete hormones that are useful in increasing our immune system’s capacity to fight infections and also repair damaged cells. I know this is not related in my post below, hehehehe, but I was so amazed with the facts that I can’t help but share it.

KRIS and DOTTIE engagement shoot part 2 of 2

This is our second installment of Kris and Dottie’s engagement shoot. During our first engagement pictorial (view part 1 here ), we had difficulty in doing the photoshoot as it was raining hard that day and our plans of having an outdoor shoot was cancelled. So I decided that if the couple is ok with it, we do another pictorial session. Thanks to the Lord above, He gave us a very nice weather for our 2nd pictorial. The shoot went well and even though we had some minor setbacks (the car we were riding got stucked on some mud puddle and some more unfortunate events like stepping on some you-know-what hehehe ) still we had a blast and I commend the couple for being so funky! woohooo!!! Stay tuned for their wedding photos coming September.

Now, if you’re going to ask me what my idea for this shoot was, it’s just plain simple. Get them to hug each other the whole time. It was my first time going to Tagaytay and I surely loved the place. The view of Taal lake was breathtaking and also the garden resort we went too was a photographer’s delight.

This is one of those shoot I had which didn’t go as what we have planned. But nonetheless, the shoot still went good despite some unforeseen circumstances. I was still happy doing this shoot because even though our idea didn’t go to our liking, it didn’t hampered us to still continue and enjoy the shoot.

davidson and gwen | Tenghun | Cagayan de Oro City

Tenghun which is called “engagement” in English is a traditional Chinese event before marriage. It was my first time to cover a tenghun event. So days before the event, I asked my colleague Aye Navarro about what usually happens during a tenghun event and also I did my own research about it so that I could be well prepared on what will be the things I need to take pictures of. And during the day proper, everything went well and also tried to be as silent as a sleuth so as not to be distracting during the traditional event. My shoutout to the soon to be wed couple: Davidson and Gwen.

Sam and Kai part 1 of 2 | engagement shoot | Camiguin

Earlier in my blog I told you that I had a wedding coverage in Camiguin that went ballistic, which I meant is the weather. It was raining so hard during the wedding day, most of all my ideas that I have thought of before we went to Camiguin, which I plan to do was not done. Well, in that case, that is what also happened during this engagement shoot.
The night after the wedding day I covered, I texted my client that the weather in Camiguin is gloomy and rain is very frequent, as what one of the residents there told me. But my client assured me, as she had checked on Pag-asa’s forecast, those days after, it will be sunny. True enough, when Sunday came, it was all sunny. It was a good sign. Our shoot was scheduled for Wednesday that same week and we were really planning to get a sunrise shoot. So to carry out our idea, we travelled a day before so as to be prepared for next day’s shoot. It was all sunny when we travelled going to Camiguin. I was getting excited to do the shoot the next day because it was also one of my dreams to shoot a couple in a sunrise scene in White Island, Camiguin. We set-up alarms that would wake us by 5am so that we would be in white island before sunrise. It was around 4am when we were woken up by heavy rain. Our hopes of getting that sunrise shot also poured along with the rain.
But the rain doesn’t matter actually. The point is, we were there, I’m fired up to taking pictures, my couple is also fired up for the shoot whatever happens. So we decided to still go on with our plan, and luckily we managed to have a nice photoshoot there with occasional drizzles. Their laughter was the key to success. We laughed our hearts content the whole time. And just as my previous post, even the weather can’t stop the happiness of two couples who are in love.

Wedding has only one story.

Same script, same flow of events, same key players, you know what I mean. But this doesn’t mean that we have to follow what is traditional. Just like movies that get a lot of remakes, weddings should be too. It has always been my principle that every wedding has its own DNA. Each has its own take on the wedding ritual and each wedding that I cover; I also too have a different view on your wedding. With that kind of state of mind, I also thought of adapting to a newer version of albums. And so, in the coming 2010, I’ll be presenting my new Photobook album and new Coffeetable album. I just don’t want to be the same with other photographers. But still, the photos, the candid shots, the lay-out will always be the same, the funky style! YEAH!

With the new upgrades, it is inevitable that I have to bump my rates a little higher from the old rates. I know that with the crisis going on, we have to consider every small detail that we pay. But we also have to consider the importance of your special day. Photos are for eternity. It is something that you’ll have to cherish until you’re on your 80’s and still keeps on laughing on your wedding album, reminiscing that special day the two of you got hitched. The photo shoot sessions you have with me, the stuff that I have to dare for the both of you to do and all the crazy stuffs. Photos are for eternity I say again. That’s why I always have to look for better and nicer suppliers for my albums and photos. We have to adapt to be better.

2010 will be one hell of a rocking new year! With newer uploads and fresher ideas! To my clients who have already booked, get ready! We’re gonna rock you out!
